After enchanting visitors in Whistler with multimedia magic set amidst the snowy forests of Cougar Mountain, Vallea Lumina: The Winter Journey is returning for its second year. Reopening November 27, the acclaimed experience, will greet the season with a winter wonderland filled with dazzling lights, emotive soundscapes and stunning scenography.
Located in a lush forest setting, Vallea Lumina takes place just 10 minutes from Whistler Village at Cougar Mountain. Guests are immediately immersed into charming storytelling in a breathtaking environment. Throughout the approximately 45-minute adventure, visitors follow in the footsteps of two long-ago hikers, Leonard and Gloria, who are seeking a mystical hidden valley where stardust falls from the sky, as guests move through the experience the ever-changing environment. The winter trail offers smooth, easy to walk surfaces with minimal elevation gain or loss; and additional lighting effects will serve to heighten and enhance the excursion. As with Vallea Lumina’s summer experience, guests can enjoy cozy non-alcoholic refreshments and snacks at base camp prior to entering the show.

Zero Ceiling is committed to ending youth homelessness in BC. For over twenty years, they’ve been helping young people facing homelessness have a healthy transition to adulthood. They provide stability, support, and opportunities so that young people can focus on personal growth. They believe every young person deserves the chance to become the best version of themselves.
Based in Whistler, they serve youth aged 16-24 from Metro Vancouver and the Sea to Sky Corridor. Their programs offer supportive housing, supportive employment, case management, life skills education, mental health supports, and outdoor recreation in a safe, supportive environment. They build strong relationships and support young people for as long as they need: just like a family.
Like many charities, Zero Ceiling were hit hard with the COVID-19 crisis. Many of those they support did not have anywhere else to turn, and as an essential service to their participants they stayed committed as ever to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of the young people they serve.

The Adventure Group proudly supports Zero Ceiling’s Whistler adventure-based learning program, Work 2 Live. Every year, the Work 2 Live program supports eight young people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness from Vancouver, the Sea to Sky corridor and the lower mainland. The program offers full-time employment in the outdoor tourism industry, as well as supportive housing, life skills, one-to-one support and plenty of mountain adventure. Through the program, participants learn new skills, gain experience and become part of a community, and are empowered to live healthy, autonomous lives.
Kehew graduated from the program in 2017 after working as a lift operator for Whistler Blackcomb and as a Superfly Ziplines guide.
