Vallea Lumina Opening May 18

The Award-Winning Vallea Lumina is Returning to Whistler on May 18th

This spring, magical nights await visitors to Whistler at Vallea Lumina, a ground-breaking experience that will bring Cougar Mountain’s old-growth forest to life. This award-winning multimedia experience invites guests into an enchanting universe, inspired by Whistler’s unparalleled natural beauty and local culture. In its first year, Vallea Lumina won a prestigious Communication Arts Award in the Environment and Interactive category.

Vallea Lumina launched in July 2018 and will be returning on weekends only from May 18th, and then every night from June 7th until October 2019. The experience is located at our base at Cougar Mountain, just eight minutes north of Whistler Village, in the heart of a lush rainforest. The unique night walk uses a universal language, speaking to audiences of all ages and interests and bringing generations together using a combination of emotive lights, videos, soundscape and scenography. Guests are transported to another world, with plenty of opportunities to explore and engage with the environment.

The experience begins at sundown and takes place every 20 minutes (exact times vary depending on time of year). The illuminated 1.5km long trail takes approximately 60 minutes to complete and a complimentary shuttle service is provided to transport visitors between Whistler Village and Cougar Mountain.

The Legendary Whitewater Rodeo is Back – June 18

Iconic Whistler businesses come together to make the Whitewater Rodeo 2019 a force for good.

The Whitewater Rodeo is Whistler’s favourite locals’ sell-out summer party, with 300 locals and VIPs rafting the Green River with Wedge Rafting, delicious après and kicking on at a bumpin’ after-party at Whistler’s newest event space, The Hanger. This will be its 22nd year

The Adventure Group (TAG), Wedge Rafting, GibbonsGood Fortune Collective, The Hangar and Forged Axe Throwing have pooled their expertise and experience to plan a fun-filled, feel-good event for locals to kick off the summer in style. They have joined forces to make this long-standing event a force for good.

Once again, 100% of ticket sales will be donated to Zero Ceiling, funding their programs for young people who have experienced homelessness from the Sea to Sky corridor.

Every year, the Work 2 Live program supports eight young people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness from Vancouver, the Sea to Sky corridor and the lower mainland. The program offers full-time employment in the outdoor tourism industry, as well as supportive housing, life skills, one-to-one support and plenty of mountain adventure. Through the program, participants learn new skills, gain experience and become part of a community, and are empowered to live healthy, autonomous lives.

Zero Ceiling Work 2 Live: Kehews Story

The Adventure Group proudly supports Zero Ceiling’s Whistler adventure-based learning program, Work 2 Live. Every year, the Work 2 Live program supports eight young people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness from Vancouver, the Sea to Sky corridor and the lower mainland. The program offers full-time employment in the outdoor tourism industry, as well as supportive housing, life skills, one-to-one support and plenty of mountain adventure. Through the program, participants learn new skills, gain experience and become part of a community, and are empowered to live healthy, autonomous lives.

Kehew graduated from the program in 2017 after working as a lift operator for Whistler Blackcomb and as a Superfly Ziplines guide.

Rafting, Fundraising and a Whole Lot of Fun

21st Whitewater Rodeo went back to its roots

Back in June, the 21st Whitewater Rodeo took place and it was epic. Iconic Whistler businesses and adventuring locals came together and raised $40,000 for Zero Ceiling Society of Canada programs. This was enough to support two people in their Work 2 Live program for an entire year.

The Adventure Group (TAG)Wedge RaftingGibbons, and Good Fortune Collective pooled their expertise and experience to create a fun-filled, feel-good event for locals and kicked off the summer in style. There were costumes, raft flips, races and even sumo-wrestling, followed by a legendary, exclusive after party on Cougar Mountain with local DJs SkiiTour.

100% of the ticket sales were donated to Zero Ceiling, funding their programs for young people who have experienced homelessness from the Sea to Sky corridor and Vancouver.

Zero Ceiling’s Work 2 Live program provides housing, employment, support and outdoor adventure to those affected. All have faced significant challenges in their lives: many have been in government care, experienced poverty, unstable housing, and disruption in their lives. They’re looking for stability and opportunity, and that’s what the Work 2 Live program provides.
